The farm we're
trying to understand.
A family coffee farm in the Colombian Andes.
Partially dormant. Coffee is still being harvested.
We're going back to find out what is actually there — the land, the coffee, the infrastructure, the people, the costs and the possibilities.

Before we decide what this farm should become, we need to understand what is already here.
Farm 01 is a 10-hectare family property in Roldanillo, Valle del Cauca, Colombia.
What coffee is already here?
Coffee is still being harvested from the farm.
The current family estimate is approximately 600–1,000 coffee plants.
This estimate has not yet been verified.
EXP-001 — What coffee is already here? →The farm, before this experiment.
These photographs are part of the farm's visual history. They are historical images, not current documentation.
What is still here?
How do you move coffee from a farm vehicles can't reach?
There is no direct vehicle access into the farm.
Access is currently through a path / servidumbre. A vehicle can reach a point before the final walk to the property.
The walk is approximately 10–15 minutes — an initial estimate, to be verified during the Farm Audit.
- Current condition of the access
- Exact walking distance
- How coffee currently leaves the farm
- How inputs reach the farm
- Whether the existing servidumbre can be improved
- Potential improvement requirements
- Potential cost of improvement
A farm is more than land.
Farm 01 has a history of people who have worked, maintained, harvested and understood the land.
This project will document the people involved in the farm and the knowledge that already exists around it.
- Family
- People currently involved in harvesting
- Neighbours
- Local collaborators
- People with historical knowledge of the farm
What we don't know yet.
That's what Farm 01 is here to find out.
Farm Audit.
The first field visit will establish the baseline for Farm 01.
We will document the land, inventory the coffee, assess the infrastructure and access, and begin measuring what is currently unknown.
